Short lengths of Melcombe Regis’ original water supply main, made from elm wood, c1800, they carried the water across Lodmoor into the Georgian town. The tools were used for making trunks of elm into pipes; an auger for boring the hole through the wood and the chamfer plane for pointing the end for joining lengths of pipe together.
